Hey, I’m Iqbal — an SRE and platform engineer. I work on infrastructure and developer tooling: keeping systems reliable, making builds faster, and making it easier for engineers to ship.

I spent about six years at Pintu, a crypto exchange based in Indonesia, before leaving in September 2026. I joined as an intern while I was still in college, and stayed from the pre-seed days through Series B. Along the way, I helped the infrastructure move from VMs to Nomad, then Kubernetes.

My work there covered production infrastructure for the Pintu retail app, Web3 Wallet, and Rupiah Token, alongside monitoring, on-call, and reliability work. Later, I focused on platform engineering — building CI and developer tooling for 100+ engineers. A lot of what I write about here comes from those years.

Before that — and still on the side — I’ve been deep in Web3. Smart contracts, NFT infrastructure, gas optimization, token platforms. It’s a different world from platform engineering but the underlying discipline is the same: build things that hold up under pressure.

some things I’ve worked on:

  • Kubernetes — helped run production, staging, and UAT clusters at Pintu. Deployments, scaling, monitoring, debugging — keeping the platform stable and out of the way.
  • Monitoring — ran observability tooling for 100+ microservices using Datadog APM, Prometheus, and Grafana. Gave engineers and on-call teams visibility into what their services were doing.
  • CI platform — built and owned Pintu’s CI platform end-to-end: self-hosted runners, a monorepo-aware build multiplexer, and cost attribution across multiple monorepos. Supported ~55K workflow runs/month and 100+ engineers, took it from greenfield to day-to-day operation, and cut CI spend by ~50%. Built visibility into per-team and per-PR costs, plus runner CPU, memory, and disk usage.
  • Mason CLI — built and maintained internal developer tooling covering local development, build, test, and deploy. It became the main interface to the platform for 100+ engineers.
  • Helped ship NFT infrastructure at Gaspack (40K+ mints, $600K+ sales) and co-authored a paper on blockchain-based royalty protection at IEEE ICC 2023

outside work:

I help run the Kubernetes & Cloud Native community in Indonesia — mostly workshops and meetups. We’ve reached 500+ engineers over the years. I also help organize Global Diversity CFP Day, which is about getting more people from underrepresented backgrounds onto conference stages.
